Show Notes

Welcome to the Somerset Emotional Wellbeing (SEW) podcast!

In this episode, Health Checks and Learning Disabilities, our hosts Dr. Peter Bagshaw and Dr. Andrew Tresidder are joined by Jordan Smith, Advocacy Lead and Chair of Dimensions Council and his Dimensions Personal Assistant, Emilija Lizunaite to discuss the impact health checks can have for people who have learning disabilities.

During the conversation, they discuss why people with a learning disability often have poorer physical and mental health than other people, why it is important that people with learning disabilities or autism have regular health checks and Jordan’s own personal experiences of attending health checks.

The SEW podcast is a free weekly show hosted by Dr. Andrew Tresidder and Dr. Peter Bagshaw. In each episode, the doctors discuss a different topic related to mental and emotional wellbeing and often invite expert guests to join them in conversation. The show is aimed at the people of Somerset and beyond; the advice and guidance provided should apply to anybody who needs it, whenever they need it.
